Not the best pic, but I got some Hyline Offroad hood vents. They do keep temps down some, but the flip side is my truck seems like it never warms up on the coldest days in winter. Going to just pick up a beater winter hood if I find one cheap to swap on for Nov-March.
Note that this could be just a defect with my truck, it always ran hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Shrug.

These are mine: Gen Right Brand- I have had them on for a few years now- Put them on while stationed in Louisiana for the heat- You can see the heat pour out when you are going slow.
And I don't have drip pans and have yet to have a problem- Does seem like the smart think to do. I do regularly cover everything in Di-electric grease though!

Ianf406, Wow what a beautiful off-roading spot. Nice.
I haven't seen the vent system intake location addressed for the people new to Cherokees. The fresh air intake for the ventilation system is on the drivers side between the hood and the windshield. Here in VA the summers are very hot and having hot air from under the hood added to your vent system is VERY noticeable. Because of that I have vented the heat from under the hood only on the passenger side. I have the back of the hood lifted about an inch with an inch thick foam seal filling the drivers side only. The in hood vent is on the passenger side. The drivers side scoop that you can see in the pic is the fresh air intake for the engine.
