Default should i swap it all?

recently my poor old aw4 has ran into some major issues requireing a rebuild, called my local trans shop its going to be 2350 for a rebuild.

my dad told me if im up to the challenge that i can take his supercharged chevy 454 with 4l80e trans and t-case with his 14 bolt rearend with 4.56 and detroit locker all ready installed and swap it all into my jeep. i have been doing some research and found instructions on start to finish on the drivetrain swap. i have almost everything needed. but i will need a front axle to cope with the size of the rear end and power. which i could get a dana 60 off a early 70s ford iv been told; not sure how much or where.

dilema should i do the swap and make a monster xj or just rebuild mine and fix some of my other issues?

ummm do the swap? it doesn't have to be an early ford D60 in fact i recommend like a 90 ford front D60 since it HP and kingpin. any ford later model is going to be HP and kingpin or balljoint both are just fine for what you are using them for.

you sure you're ready for a build like this?

with a motor like this, frame stiffeners are a must. so get ready to do some welding, along with crossmember fabbing, clearencing work.

yes, leaf springs will be slightly easier to do. given that you have stiffeners installed.

you will need custom driveshafts for the front and back. you will need to do a decent bit of wiring to make everything work correctly. floorpan work to make room for everthing. major cooling system upgrades. ect

also, be prepared to be nickle and dimed to death. these sort of projects have a way of emptying pockets when done correctly. there are just sooo many unseen cost that you wont be aware of when you begin.

from my understanding the motor and trans will clear everything fine from these instrustions and some other research online. i have everything for cooling and power steering because this is all out of my dads old truck. it seems like the cost is in the front axle tires and motor mounts and wiring harness which i found i can buy for this motor and trans for xj

I would love to see you do it! Although i think its a pretty big bite to tackle it all at once, and your jeep with probably be outta commission atleast 4 months, maybe more.
