Now its my turn for a stupid question. I need new shocks now and not sure how to measure so I get the right travel shocks. right now I have about 5.5in of lift, and plan to keep it about there, but plan on getting long arms and shackle relocate setup very soon. These items will hopefully allow for a lot more flex, meaning more shock travel, but hard to measure an unknown max-flex length! Shocks are to short right now, and noticed last night that a rear one broke loose from the upper mounts. So what is going to be the proper way to measure for new ones ensuring I get enough travel out of them. BTW I will be ordering Bilstein's, just not sure which ones yet. Maybe I'm over-thinking this but I dont just want to call and ask for shocks for a 6in lift when I know there is better ways of getting the most out of the shocks

I understand that I can just get shocks that say "for 5.5in of lift", but like I said before I'm pretty sure that by measuring and ordering a higher end shock like a Bilstein I will get exactly what I need and not some generic off the shelf shock that fits several different sizes of lift. Just not sure how to go about doing that

The right way is to remove your existing shocks and flex the suspension fully while checking for rubbing of the tires in the wheel wells. Measure the distance between the upper and lower shock mounts 9front and rear) for both the extended and collapsed lengths.

Once you have those your ready to start shopping for the shocks that best suit your needs.

You have to know what your full droop, & full stuff lengths will be before you call them. Make do with what u have now tell you have your LAs & relocators. Then flex it to its max without shocks. Measuring all 4 for proper lengths!
