shock length questions
I have a few questions about shock length. I'm looking into replacement options for a stock 2000 XJ that I am going to put 2" Old man EMU leaf springs in the rear with coil spacers in the front.
The Monroe website says the stock front replacement sensa-trac extended length is 21.125", compressed length is 13.250" for a travel length of 7.85".
The rear extended length is 20" even, compressed is 12.75", for a travel of 7.25".
They do not say if the measurements are end to end, or center hole to center hole. I'm thinking center to center.
I got JK measurements--tip to tip-- from a NAXJA thread:
front rubi and non rubi--25.5" extended 17.5" compressed for 8" of travel
rear rubi shocks 24.75" extended--compressed not listed
rear non rubi 24.25" extended--compressed not listed
and just to add after searching info on JK shocks; there have been many threads in other forums, particularly JK forums, about shock lengths in JK's. Seems they have used different shocks depending on the suspension package chosen for the year model. Seems all the rubi's are the same, but the other models had a variation of shock depending on suspension.
Ok --so what would the difference be using these 3 different shocks? How does the 2" lift affect the shocks? would I actually loose travel using the JK shocks because they would be compressed when installed?
thanks
