Default Shock absorber Q & A

PO put 3 inch coil spacers on 99 Jeep Cherokee the shock absorbers are done for, wondering if anyone can help me figure out if a shocks absorbers from advance auto will fit kinda need them right now, don’t really want to order them offline

It’s likely that the 3” spacer will require a shock absorber with a compressed and extended dimension longer than stock. If you are in a rush, take out your current shocks and bring a front and a rear into the auto parts store. They should be able to find a match.

Engine: 4.3L with headers and full 3" exhaust system

I agree. To find out, jack up the front and support the frame and then take the tire off and let the axle drop. If the shock is all the way extended and not long enough to reach the axle at full droop, then it is too short. Now here is the catch, most auto parts stores will be able to find a longer shock but the lower bushing on the front or upper bushing on the rear will not be right. So, you can check with Zone, Rubicon Express and others that offer lift kits for longer shocks

I agree, but the OP doesn’t want to put much effort into doing it correctly, just wants something that will work right now. My point is, if the current shocks work for the OP’s purpose, just try to duplicate them.
