Shackle Relocation Question
Hey all,
I just ordered some IronMan Fab shackle relocation brackets (seen here: http://ironman4x4fab.com/Products/RLS.html) and I have a question before I get them and install them.
Right now, I have extended rear shackles installed that measure 5" from center hole to center hole, which I believe works out to 1-1.5" inches of lift over stock. I'm pretty sure these are the shackles I have: http://www.roughcountry.com/jeep-xj-...kles-1077.html (PO installed them, but these look like the ones on there)
I know that Andy's page says that his kit adds 1.5" of lift over stock. I have Old Man Emu leaf springs on the back, and with the current shackle, the height is basically where I want it, but it could stand to be .5" or so higher. I am adding a heavier rear bumper in the next few weeks, and a gas tank skid eventually.
My question is, should I downsize my shackles or stick with the ones I have? I don't know how much the newly added weight will bring the springs down, but it's going to be about 110lbs of new weight.
Any help would be appreciated!

With just a stock shackle or an mj shackle (.75" lift) you would be at the height you probably want, but a short shackle won't really droop as much.
All depends on your riding style and what you will use it for.
Just try the further forward holes to see where it might put you. I think you'll be fine with the shackles and brackets.
I went from stock shackle to a no lift bracket and 1.5" shackles, gaining no lift.

Well they're adjustable so I would put it on the lowest lift setting on the shackle and then just play around with the mounting until you get it right? Worst comes to worse you just have to pick up some stock shackles for cheap

Granted you will gain the 1.5 inches from the SRB but you will have to take into account your shackle angle. Say yours is 90 degrees now once set at the correct 45 angle it will bring down your lift amount. As to how much I don't know. I'm not much at math. You did said you wanted .05'' higher so with the added weight and better angle you might be close to where you want to be.

Dang, thanks so much for the quick responses guys. I'll just install the brackets with my current shackles and see where that puts me. I didn't take into account the fact that my shackles are basically at 90 degrees now (hence the brackets) and the proper angle will decrease the lift some. This is my DD/forest road rig so droop isn't a huge factor, but y'alls advice was exactly what I needed!

Im have this same issue. I fitted my relocation brackets of the weekend. With the shackle at 35 degree the kickout for the leaf hits the bracket itself at ride height. I can go back a hole for a 55 degree shackle angle, but there isnt very much room before the shackle its the bracket. Also my springs go from a good 4-5" arch to a 2-3" arch with the relocation brackets.
I was thinking about looking for some "dog leg" shackles to get a lil more up travel?
