several factory tire carrier questions
Hello!
I've recently inserted a 2000 Jeep Cherokee from my uncle, which came with a factory tire carrier. the bushings on it have been past their prime, causing it to sag, which ended up cracking my back hatch when the weight of the tire sits on it. Is it worth saving and rebuilding? Or do I invest in a nice aftermarket tire rack? Will getting rid of it decrease the value of my truck? I've heard they're rare. Are they worth anything on their own?
Let me hear your thoughts!
I can attach pictures when I get her back from the shop.. a cracked head has taken her off the road for a little while.

To the best of my knowledge a '96 was the last year to offer a factory tire carrier. I am very interested in seeing these pictures.

That it is a factory carrier. One you would find on a '96. Almost positive that '97 and up did not come with them. But I do have a the theory. The Dealership might have put in on. They had one and figured out how to get it on. It would not have been a straight bolt on. Now since I own that same one, Craigslist find, and am considering putting it on my '00 I would love shots. The part on the hatch where the wiper and how they put the hinge part on the bumper where the bumper cap is for starters.
Here is a shot I the body style I believe it was really made for.

You're talking about the red XJ aren't you? I have all that. Since he thinks his is factory, and very well could be but I think the dealership might have done that with a '96 and down tire carrier, I am just curious as to how they might have done it and compare it to the write up I think you are talking about.
