Default Safe or stupid?

I've had my lift kit ready to install for about a month but have been holding it off since I have no idea what to do. I've read everything about it and walked through it in my mind but is that safe enough to try it?

If you doubt yourself, safe bet is to mot even try and attempt it. Smart with smaller jobs first and get familiar with wrenching in general before such a job

If you have a jack, jackstands, some basic tools and a day, its not a big deal. Lift kits are easy.

Depending on what lift I would make sure to give yourself more than a day. There are snags that a lot of people run into, the first time I swapped out the leaf springs my '92 both shackle bolts were seized, ended up breaking both damn weld nuts and still having to the cut the bolts to get them out of the bushings.

If you can do basic repairs & have the needed tools, you should be good.

It really depends in what area you live in. If you are up north, you are more prone to rust & therefore more work.

The south has it a little easier.

Tell us what other auto repairs you have done by yourself. This way we can give you our advice on if you are ready to give it a go. Doing your own lift is a big job and you have to be committed. I would say if your only auto mechanical endeavors have been spark plugs, to maybe shy away from it. If you have done stuff like water pumps/alternators, fuel pumps, etc-you have a much better chance at being successful. Just my opinion. I did my lift by myself, but I have done all the above plus timing belt changes too. I felt comfortable since messing up a lift wouldn't be worse than messing up an engine with a bad timing belt job.

To be honest. My rust is a pretty decent amount. But not as bad as most people have it. I've looked and the shackle bolts look murdered I found someone local who will do it in there garage for 50 bucks and let me help/watch so I know what to do in the future. Thanks for the help. I probably would have somehow broke everything lol

$50 bucks go that route and watch / help.

Most shops charge 400-500 to install a lift.
