Rusty's vs. Rough Country for Modest Lift
Rusty's quality has greatly improved over the years compared to what it used to be. Rc is still #1 in customer service IMO. Rc will give you a stiffer ride and their leaf packs tend to be too short. I've had my Rusty's 3" with full leaf packs for 3 years and have had zero complaints with it. I've added and 1.5" with shackles and spacers to it and then got RC's LCA's. both companies give you a good lift for not much, but if I had to do it all over again, I'd save up for a BDS 4.5" LA. if you're good with 3" of lift from either Rusty's or RC though, I say Rusty's based on my experience.
I have a RC 3in lift on my '98, and so far i have had no compaints. My cousin is the one I go for for alot of my Jeep info. He has worked on alot of cars and all of thelifts that he has bought have been RC and he swears by them. but everyone has their own taste.

Not that I dont wanna pay for quality....Its just cause Im a poor college kid hahahaaa
I looked at both before I bought my Rough Country 3" lift. The biggest difference for me was the shipping prices. Rustys wanted $170 to ship where as Rough Country was only $60. To me that was a no brainer. Also, Rough country will give you 10% off for being a forum member. I haven't had any issues with my lift yet. I got the full leaf packs and it actually lifted it about 4" in the rear I think.
I went with the RC 3" series 2 lift with the full leaf packs and it rides pretty well, not stiff at all. takes speed bumps like a champ (haven't 4wheeled it yet, lol)
you might want to consider getting the shackle relocation brackets and 1" coil spacer.. 3" is nice but an extra inch would be ideal.

im running a RC 4.5" with add-a-leaf, RC sway bar disconnects, RC adjustable trac bar and Rustys fixed upper and lower control arms and i love it but the RC shocks do have a stiff ride but i have there old shocks iv heard there new N2.0 and N2.2 ride alot better and i recommed u to save up and get full leaf pack to
you are comparing cat crap to dog crap.
you make the decision of what crap to waste your hard earn money on. if you leave CF (i swear cf makes money on every RC lift sold) you will see how much RC and Rusty are the bottom feeders of the lift world.

yea there both cheap lifts but they get the job done just fine iv never had a problem with my old RC 3" or my current RC 4.5" and i installed both on my jeep myself plus RC is a big name and they didnt get that way by being ****ty
Might want to do your homework. Yes RC has been known as a crappy lift for sometime now. In the last couple years they have been trying to improve their image. Hence why they are so cheap. Look over at Naxja where people use their lift kit and see what I'm saying

This is coming from an honest person.
I've owned 2 RC lifts, 1 3" series 2 full leafs. It was my first setup ever. Next was the RC 3" coil and a bastard pack because the leafs sagged to around 2.25" & I didn't want a shackle to level it. Also ditch their shocks for something better...Now I redid it again with Rustys coils , same shocks & a better leaf setup, & better control arms.
Rc 3" coil vs Rustys 3" coil...Rustys hands down! I have his 180# heady spring rate, and its still nicer than the Rc 3" springs. RUstys also offers a 160# which should ride even better. But the 180# ride nicer than the RC's coils. Flex was about the same, but the Rustys coil rode nicer & sat around 3.25". I'm currently running them still
Leafs, I had decent leafs to start with, so I did my own bastard pack and got what I wanted. Rides a little stiff unloaded, but not bad at all..made them stiff cause I carry camping gear often. Again you can choose how yours ride by what leafs you use.
I'm also using a MJ shackle to help it flex a little better, it have 1/2" of lift.
Track bar, IRO double sheer
Steering, v8 Zj tie rod, I also did the RHD XJ drag link for the OTK swap.
My control arms are adjustable upper & lower Teraflex monster. Stretched the front end 2"
But you can run a set of 16.5" fixed lowers. DO NOT get 16"..its pointless, doesn't do squat over the stock arms which are 15.75". The extra .5" in length will push your axle forward enough and improve ride quality.
Shocks, I'm running Rancho 9k adjustables in the rear, cause I carry weight often, I like to be able to stiffen things up on demand. Up front I have Doetch tech, forgot the part number though lol.
Sway bar end links, JSK quick discos..although I run no sway bars.
My vote goes to piecing your lift together. You end up with the best of the best & if you shop smart and look for deals, you end up with about the same price range.
Rustys track bar is horrid, avoid at all cost. RC's track bars ok, TRE goes bad quickly though.
Rc's leaf rode like dog crap, as stated they are to short. Rc's coils even though some say softer ride ect ect, comparing the 2 personally, Rustys rode better. And I've got the same shocks so thats not a factor lol.

ok will the bottom line is Rough Country and Rustys are both good lift for the price and can be a even better lift with some good shocks like bilstein or fox shox....and iv got to say that RC control arms do suck ***
