Rusty's front skid plate XJ
I bought a skid plate from Rusty's for the front of my XJ and for the life of me can't figure out how it bolts on. I know the front lip bolts to the core support and I think I know where the back bolts to but it is hitting my sway bar and won't go up to the frame. Does anyone know if I need to remove the sway bar, I have a 3in lift and sway bar lowering brackets and if anyone has any pictures that would help alot.
Thanks |
Sway bar lowering brackets? As in you lowered the sway bar where it mounts to the frame or just got longer sway bar links? I could assess it better if you gave us some pics...

Here are a couple pics

That could b why the sway bar is in the way.

Yeah, those won't work with a front skid. Need to bolt sway bar up flush and get longer end links to extend them down...if you want to use the skid.
|
The brackets came with the RC lift kit, do you think I need to remove the brackets and get longer links?
|
yup. remove the brackets and get disconnects and you will be good to go!
|
Or get rid of your sway altogether!!!

Don't remove the swaybar wahoo unless you naturally take corners slow unlike me and don't have your family riding in it and it sees any freeway. The back is a diff story tho.

Yea my neighbor has a front skid and can't use it due to his bracket. Buy rc links if your tall enough cux they don't work for 3"
|
Thanks for all the replies, took the brackets off and put on quick disco's and got the skid plate on.
Wahoo |
whos discos did you buy.How much lift do you have
|
Rough Country disco's and I have a 3in lift. I wasn't able to get the bottom torx bolt out so I left it in and hooked everything else until I can get a torch and remove the torx bolt.
|
Let me know if they work for your lift cause I wanna get some but didn't think it would work on the 3" lift.
