Default Ruff Stuff Specialties Frame Stiffeners

Anyone ever use the Ruff Stuff Specialties frame stiffeners? They seem to be a little more beefy than others I have found and come pre-drilled.

I am looking at them too.

I both like and don't like that they go up onto the floor.

I like it since it puts the stress further out but don't like it since it seems like the "frame rail" is stronger anyway so by welding up to the floor you may be weakening the "frame" to floor metal.

Has anyone ever had issues with welded on frame stiffeners on an xj?

Too me it seems one of those things that you put so many welds on it that it isn't going to give you issues...

Anyone any thoughts?

My thought is your gonna do slim to no welding to the floor... welding up the holes is where all your welding is gonna be... I probly wouldn't weld to the floor at all... no point...

Heck most of your bashing force is going to be pushed up... so your welding is pretty much just there to keep from the stiffners falling off or getting torn off...

I got mine today from Ruff Stuff.

They are a lot beefier than I expected. I would think that once installed the xj will have a stronger frame than my old bronco that had a real frame!

When I get to putting them on I will get a writup posted...

although I do like how the Ruff Suff stiffeners have that folded lip to rest against the body underside, I'm still a bigger fan of the TNT design. I do look forward to seeing some install pictures of those RS stiffeners.

Personally I am a fan of buying a sheet of 1/8 plate and getting friendly with my plasma and welder. about the same money.. took a lil longer. And still had a bunch of steel left.

Was talking with Ramsey (sp) over at Ruff Stuff. Their product support and knowledge was greatly appreciated. Needles to say I ended up with a set of their unibody stiffeners. (BTW if you are ever in need of Diff covers Ruff Stuff makes a really nice set for the cherokee.) Back on topic. Shipping from Ruff Stuff was very quick and painless. Today I picked up a mini needle gun from Harbor Freight removing all the undercoating in prep for the stiffeners. Need to wait till next weekend welding them up. As I'm not a welding pro I can provide beer so a good friend will be doing the work.

Only thing I wish that we could do is fabricate a long arm kit with the rails.
