rubicon express leafs sag?
 

Hi everyone,
Im about to replace my leafs with new rubicon express 4.5 but I was wondering if they will be able to handle the extra weight I've put on my jeep.
I was looking on line and saw some people complained that their leafs sagged in a short amount of time. ( about a year )
I have not installed them yet so I could change them out to 5.5 if it would be better.
I have approximately 350lbs of weight at any given time at rear of the jeep. (bumper, spare, skid etc.)
Will the 4.5 springs be able to handle the load?
Has anyone else run these springs with this much weight?

I'd kinda feel bad seeing as I didnt buy them from him.

Who told you RE leafs sag? Mine are almost 2 years old and after abuse, towing, more abuse, and a bumper, my suspension is still raked and my rear is still about a half inch higher than advertised. My opinion - you'll be fine.

mine too. you typically get a tad more than advertised with RE so take that into your plans for the front

I found the info from google although the posts were a bit older.
I don't want to sound like a jerk but I'm serious about the 350lbs on the back end. I've weighed the parts.
I have the relocation brackets,( rough country) so I'm hoping to have somewhere between 5.5 and 6 inches of lift when I'm done.
If you guys think they will hold up then that good enough for me.

I run about the same or a bit more weight in mine all the time and I have used the same rear leafs for going on 4 yrs. now. A set of Rustys 3" leafs for 2 yrs. then upgrading to a 4 1/2" lift using them with Boomerang shackles now and still very little if any sag. One thing about his springs are they are one of very few made in NA and not China.


I do know a lot run them without any issues. YMMV

I've had RE springs on mine for 2 years with no sag. Even with a fully loaded cargo area, I notice very little change in ride height. Buy with confidence.

i'm going on 12 years on my 5.5 RE springs. still like new.

i also have about 5 years on my 4.5 RE springs on my other xj.

This is very good news. I had originally made a bastered pack trying to save some money but have learned that it actually costs more going the "cheap " route.
I always saw alot of people on here running RE and that is why I went with them but after doing a quick search it seemed that some people had sagging issues when they started to load up the jeep. Seeing as I have about 350lbs before I load it up it was definitely a concern.
I'm sure you guys understand when I say, I'd like to do this just once or at least not again for a long time.
I can't wait to get these installed and start hitting the trails again.
I can always count on CF to help me out with my cherokee.

What cost more going the cheap route?? Just wondering, because I am debating the bastard or full replacement... Thanks

I would suggest going with full leaf packs. New if you can and decent quality. Some people may advise otherwise but I did at one time have the RC ones and they failed in a short amount of time.
I did the bastered pack and regret it cause for all the work, time and money it would have been way easier and faster to just buy good leaf packs and be done with it.
I know some guys have good luck with them but not me.

Sorry I forgot to answer your question about what costs more.
It costs more when you have to do it twice. Make sense?
