Hi everyone, I’m new to the forums, although I’ve been looking around for quite some time. As the title implies I’m looking to lift my xj and I want to do a 4.5”. I’ve measured the sag in my leaf springs and there is none. I’m just over 17” from the center of the wheel to the bottom of the fender, so for now I’m hoping to get an aal until I have the $ to buy full packs. With either kit I would get an adjustable track bar and a drop pitman arm. So which one would be better for my money, ride better, and last longer? My xj is a Dd and would see like 85% pavement.

Also extended brake lines or are the relocation brackets fine? I’m on a tight budget but I want to do things right.

Final thought... would it be better just to spend the money to get the 4.5” RC X series?
Ive read tons of forums but none have completely answered my questions... thanks in advance.

I reccomes zone over rough country, the nitro shock upgrade is also a good idea, I have the nitro shocks on my truck and I like them.

Neither.... you'll regret aal the moment you drive. They are super rough. I put some on leaf springs that were good and removed them a week later.

So if I’m still trying not too spend too much should I look for a more complete kit like the RC Xseries?

just take out rough country as an option. Absolute garbage product. I've installed quite a few of their products recently and their quality control sucks.

go with rustys, zone, Rubicon express, or iron rock off-road. Get full leafs and avoid aal

This can't be done cheap and good. Save your money and do it right. The actual kits that really include everything are going to be around 2kish.

I was in a similar situation years ago and if I could do it over I would totally skip the lift at the start and instead gone with recovery/axles/gears/armor.

The actual lift is easy. It it is all the other tidbits that need attention once you lift that add up fast snd will want to drain the bank.

That Rusty's kit posted will probably be the best bang for your buck. Don't even look at RC if you want a sound setup. Best to try and find a used setup or someone local if you don't want to spend over $600. But new, Rusty's is the way to go for RC/Zone budget. I'm on like 6 years on used Rusty's leafs and they still sit as advertised

thanks for all the feedback guys! I’ll look into the Rusty’s kit. Does anyone on here have personal experience with this kit?

I have a pair of their 4" leaf packs on my MJ. (Actually gave 4.5") I originally had 5.5" Deavers on it but had to lower it after my back injury. They don't ride stiff at all. They are actually made by Canadian Spring Co if I remember correctly.

Now If you go read through the Sticky section, you will find some great info on lifts and setting up your rig for intended purposes.

I was going to get a Rusty's 3" lift but the shipping cost was way to high so I got a 3" Trailmaster lift instead and I have been happy with it.
