Rod inside springs?

Rod inside springs?
Hey guys im still learning jeeps n where everything is but theres a rod that goes in the middle of my springs that doesnt point straight down, and when i flex it hits the springs. What is that called and is it normal?

In your front coils? Thats a bumpstop tower..the rubber piece on the end of that is your actual bumpstop. If it hits during flex it may be bent...
Bumpstops in the rear are on the "frame" directly above the u bolt plate.

If its not too close when on flat ground your lower arms may just be too short..drawing your axle too far back..and when you flex, it pulls that coil in closer to the tower, and rubs it..my old 88 did that..because my arms were too short.
EDIT: and no..they dont move when you lift it.. Your axle may though..
