Default Rims size question

I might be going to pick up a set of 15x7 wheels tomorrow, and I'm going to use them to run 12.5 wide tires. My question is, are 7" wheels good for a 12.5 tire? Will any tire place be able to mount these?
Ive searched the forum, and all Ive read is that 8" wheels work well. I assume that 7" wheels will work. Off road use primarily.
Thanks in advance.

I'm gonna hafta say no. They actually recommend running 12.50 tires on a 10" wheel, but most of us run them on an 8" because they dont hang out as far or cause as many rubbing issues, but I dont think they could get them on a 7" wheel, and if they did the center of the tire would be pooched out and wear very uneven and give a goofy contact patch on the driving surface

8" is the preferred width, not 10".

It's really easy to pop a bead on a 10" rim

Go with a 8" wide wheel they will mount on a 7" wide wheel but your going to rub like crazy

They will fit on a 7" wheel, I've personally run as wide as a 13.5 tire on a 7" wheel. It worked great, never lost a bead with that setup. However, an 8" wheel will be better. I went to an 8" wheel with my 13.5's as soon as I could afford new wheels. And fwiw I have 3 sets of 7" wheels, with none of my tires mounted on any of them, 33x9.5's on 8" wheels and 33x12.5's on 8" wheels. The 8's are just a better choice imo.

Thanks for all the replies. These wheels are American racing wheels, and I spotted them at the junkyard my last trip on a ZJ. I'm unsure if they are 15x7s or 8s. Either way, sounds like I'm gonna buy them if they give me a good deal. Thanks again
