Default Rim and tire question

Hey guys,

I'm closing in on what I'm wanting for my Cherokee and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna be getting mickey thompson baja mtz tires along with cragar soft 8s. I want a wide stance so Im getting the 33x12.5s but what rim width would I need? I only see up to 8 inches wide for cragars on some sites so will this support these monsters?

Prob getting RC 6.5 inch lift too so clearance won't be an issue.

Feel free to post comments about anything I've mentioned in this thread also, I'm still pretty new to this.

You can run 33x12.50's on an 8 inch rim.

I ran 33's on 8 inch rims for over a year and wheeled pretty hard and never had one single issue. I even ran them at 15-16 psi in the woods. Wait till someone else chimes in and get some different opinions too tho. There are some very knowledgeable people on here.

I wouldn't run anything wider than an 8. I had 10s for a short while and couldn't air down as much as I'd like. An 8" wheel will be perfect with that tire size. I ran a 7" stock rim with 33x12.50s for a while and no issues and my 38x12.50s are on an 8" wheel now.

im running 33x12.50's on a 8" rim and when i go wheelin i run between 12 to 15 psi in them....if u run 12.50's on a 10" rim u r taking the chance on popping the bead off when u go wheelin now id run 10" rim on 13.50's or wider

I've been running 33x12.5s on 8" for about 1.5 years with no problem. If you go wider than that you risk popping the bead off the rim when you're aired down. Also running a skinnier rim gives you much more rim protection.

I always run 12.5 on an 8 inch rim, the widest I would ever go on a 12.5 wide tire is 8.5 anything wider and you can't air down enough. I run 6 lbs when I go snow wheeling and there is no way I could go that low with 10 inch wide rims without running bead locks. When I run a 13.5 tire I install them on an 8.5 or 9 inch wide rim. I have over 35 years experience 4 wheeling and this is what works for me.
