Default The right backspacing choice for me?

I'm going 33's (actually 32.X") with the Rubicon Express 4.5" SA lift with new leafs. Fender trimming is A ok with me as well. I'm looking for more track width but the appropriate increase without negative repercussions is important to me. I read you'll run through wheel bearings if you go too much. Stock axles btw, 8.25 and D30. So backspacing is what I'm looking at increasing correct? I like those Jegs D window steelies a lot and the price is right. Thanks for your help, I'm learning as much as I can and try not to ask too many newb questions but I figure asking those that may have this setup is best here. Thanks for your help.

The general consensus is 33x12.5s on 15x8s with 4" or 3.75" of backspacing. I have 15x8 Cragar Soft 8s w/ 4" of bs and my 33s rub the LCAs at full lock turns. 5" of lift required some trimming of the front fenders at the front and back of opening. The rubbing is very minor, could be fixed by putting a washer or two under the stops. I just don't turn the wheel far enough to rub tho, a bit lazy.

I'm looking at the Jegs D window and the Cragar online, the Cragar has -13mm offset and the D window lists nothing for offset. $1 difference between the two. Looks like the Cragar comes with center caps maybe?

My Cragars didn't come with center caps. They were an additional $10 per.

So the 33x12.50's I'm looking at have a wheel width range (recommendation) of 8.5"-11" for "proper wear". Need I go up to a 10" wheel or is it not such a concern? I don't wanna disregard anything I shouldn't or have a bulgy tire I shouldn't. How important is that half inch recommendation I guess.

That is a fair question. I did a lot of searching when I bought my wheels and tires 3 months ago. The general consensus I found is: Ignore that recommendation. The 12.5" wide tire will stay on the 8" rim when aired down better than on a 10" rim. The tire pressure can be adjusted as needed to account for wear. The tires definitely bulge on the rim, I like the look.

Again, my experience is only 3 months of use. No noticeable wear issues. If you do go w/ a 10" rim, then they will stick out 2" more w/ the same backspacing.

the wider rim usually have a little more backspacing to bring the wheel in.

pretty much all of us use an 8 inch rim with 3.75 backspacing for a 12.5 inch wheel. i have those on 3 of my jeeps with 33x12.5 tire and have for 15 years or so.

offset is a different measurement. that tells you how far off center the mounting surface is. so assuming that's an 10 inch rim, 5 inch is center then minus 13mm on the negative side (brake side) of the rim. 25mm to an inch so that's about half an inch. so that would be 4.5 backspace.

most of the D windows are all made by the same manufacturer as you will see many with the blue/red pinstripe on the rim edge. i think it's american racing with their AR767 that has many brand names.

so you can't go wrong with any steel rim, really.

Summit and Jegs both have the D-Window in their own brand same wheel for a 12.5 tire you need a 8" wide wheel with 3.75-4" of BS no more or less I run 33x12:50x15 and 35x12:50x15's both on that wheel. For full flex you will need to do some trimming but worth it.

I found the brand Trail Master, went with the gloss black D window 15x8" 3.75 bs, $40 a wheel is awesome! Yeah I searched pics of the 12.50's on 15x8 and it looks absolute ****. Cannot wait. Thanks ya'll, I learned a lot about tire and wheel sizing the last couple days.

One last thing to consider before placing the order: fender laws. What are your state's fender laws? I have the same setup and the fronts hang out 3.5". The rear is slightly narrower, so they hang out less. The law in Virginia is 4", so I'm good.
