Put that thing on there st tighten it as tight as you can. Then take a hammer and start tapping around the outside of the pitman arm where it is mounted to the steering shaft. Then tighten some more. Sometimes it doesn't seem like the arm is coming off while you are tightening it but it is.
Do you have an impact gun to really tighten that thing down?
What about a mini torch set just to warm up the pitman arm a little?

Careful you can ruin your steering box using heat. Those pullers are crap broke one the other day on a 2500. If all else fails spend the money on a HD puller. They look like a bell rather than that design and will bring it right off.

Do what Lead foot said, forget about the wood, hit it with a hammer. The shock of hitting it with a hammer while under pressure will break it loose, every few hits tighten the puller a little more.

I broke two getting mine off. Tighten it as far as it goes, pb blast it, tap it with a hammer, etc. it's a pain
