Removing 1 Upper Control Arm?

Removing 1 Upper Control Arm?
Does anyone here have experience with doing this on the XJ ?
I have read that it's common for people with TJ's to remove one of the upper control arms(usually the passenger side one) to help with less binding in the suspension, and gain some extra flex.
Has anyone here wheeled/driven their XJ regularly like this?
I know some long-arm kits only use one side upper mount, and the concept makes sense to me. Just curious about it.

Even if the links are replaced, I believe it's the factory mounts on the body/frame that are the weak points. A proper 3-link wouldn't use these mount-points.
