regear with the same locker?

I'm planning on getting a ratcheting locker such as Detroit, spartan, and aussie. Hopefully I will have installed one by this winter. I'd like to do a regear at some point as well. I have a chrysler 8.25 rear end with 3.55 gears. Will any of those lockers still work after a regear? or would i have to get new lockers?

Do it up butter cup! There is no carrier break for the 8.25.

Lunch box lockers don't care about gearing....full case lockers (like detroits) do if there is a carrier break for the gearing.

So I can install a locker now then regear after no problem?

You can. But you'll be paying the setup labor costs twice. If you do a full case locker and a regear at the same time, you only pay the labor once.

In your situation, a lot of people will do a lunchbox locker because you just replace the spider gears. So no setup labor. Just a couple hours in your garage or driveway. Then when it's time to regear, you do a full case locker then. Or just keep the lunchbox locker.

But there is no technical reason you can't do a full case locker now, then later do a regear.

I can do it myself and if I'm too busy I have a friend who charges me little for his labor.
