Regear chryselr 8.25 help!?
So, I'm regearing my jeep to the 4.56's, and everything has gone smoothly, even made the tool for the adjusting and whatnot, went to put the spider gears back in, and sure enough, the ring gear is in the way of the shaft. what did i do wrong, or does this happen sometimes? I'm so confused.

you'll probably have to grind a tooth if it's not far off from going in. I had to grind a tooth on my 4.56 ring gear for the center shaft when i was installing a lockright in my 8.8.

Its much better to mill down the side of the cross shaft rather than grind your gears. I used a vise and my electric angle grinder with a new disk. Went in back & forth motions while keeping it level.
Works perfect, you just stick it in, turn it 90 degree & bolt it in as normal. This way makes far more sense than grinding your gears down lol

I wouldn't grind down a center pin. It's what holds the spider gears and c-clips in place. You will have to grind down the gears a little. One of the down sides to gearing a 8.25 over 4.10s.

Why wouldnt you? The flat side of the pin sits 90 degrees front the c-clips so no issue the what so ever. And it does not affect the spider gears what so ever. It has not failed, & its not going to.

Richmond has a new cross pin that had a recess cut into it for gearsets w/ thicker ring gears.
Doesn't really matter what you grind, the gear or the shaft. You only need about 3/8" out of the center of the shaft, and just large enough for the axle to slide in a bit to install the c-clip. Make sure it's at the right place to remain the full diameter of the cross shaft when installed to keep the axles in place (if that makes sense).
