Rear tool drawer almost done.

Looking good.

I've been torn on what I want to do for rear storage at the moment. Right now I'm using a foot locker strapped down in the back as I've always done. I've tossed around the idea of something like what you are building, and skeched out and measured a "cabinet" of sorts to go in the back that would come high enough to have headrests mounted on it but low enough to still have a useable rearview mirror, but also be removable for when I need to carry larger cargo with the seats folded down or I want to go on a longer multiday trip and use the XJ as a camper of sorts.

That is a great idea. I like how the ends hinge up so you're not wasting space.
Good job!

That is some very nice design/fabricating work; my Dad would love it.
I do, too; very nice work so far!
As a side note: Did you make that bumper as well? I see your hi-lift jack mounted there; thinking I might like that setup, when I get that far.

Thanks

The rear bumper is just the original mounts with a 1.5” angle across and the hi-lift bolted to it. Not much going on there.

Thanks; yes; I caught that, after my posting...
Hmmmm....makes me wonder if that'd be street legal (mines not a dedicated trail rig).

LOVE the progress of your tool drawer....only thing (for me) is, with the rear seat folded, I'd loose sleeping area, when id want it, lol.
Never really knew how much I valued cargo space, until I got my Jeep....so many ideas; not enough space, lol.
Thanks for another idea!

Thats sweet..... is your sub box made to specific dimensions for the speaker? Or did you just put the speaker there because it was extra room?

Box is made to fit in the corner, and still sound decent.
