Default Rear Swaybar Question

I've done some searching and can't quite find the answer I'm looking for.
My jeep has approximately 2.5" of lift in the rear and I'm running stock shocks. If I go offroading and remove the rear sway bar would my shocks extend too far when flexing, therefore shortening their life considerably? Or if I leave the rear sway bar attached would it save my shocks until I can afford the time and money for new ones?

Thank you

I removed my rear swaybar when I installed my lift, I haven't noticed any adverse differance. on my wifes XJ the rear swaybar is still there and honestly I can't say it really hurts flex. I seem to lift a tire easier then her. your droop will be limited by your shocks either way you look at it

dont think you can hurt them by extending them to far but was told you can damage them by compressing them to far .... using shock as a bumpstop

Okay... First of all, you should have different shocks at 2.5" regardless of your swaybar. Second, taking the rear swaybar off does wonders for flex and since its completely usless, ditch it. Third, bottoming out your shock is very bad for it and will blow it out, but over extending it is just as bad. Hope that cleared it up for you.

Ditch the rear swaybar for good. It's useless

Get new shocks. My shocks are limiting my rear droop noticeably, and I'm only at 1.5" lift out back.

Well I am on the fence on going higher up to 3- 3.5" of lift for 31's so I'd rather not buy shocks twice or will shocks for 3" of lift be good for now and then?

Thanks

Shocks for a 3" would be fine
