Rear slip yoke travel
My cherokee has 4 1/2 inches of lift. The rear slip yoke was extended quite a bit. My stock driveshaft is 31 inches. I bought 32 1/4 inch shaft. I now only have about a 1/4 inch of yoke showing. Is this going to bottom out on my transfer case ? How do I check?

I used a ax15 crossmember that gives about 3/4 inch of drop. I just went out and drooped the rear suspension and of course it was fine. I then stuffed the rear to the bump stop. It appeared that the yoke was pushing on the seal a little.

sorry but 1/4" is just not enough. As you jacked to the bump stops did the yoke contact the seal prior to the bumps coming to limit?, or just as the bumps came in.
The bumps will flex. You may pooch the seal prematurly with hard use of your susspension. We charge 100 to shorten shafts, it may be in your future. Jack it and check it out real good, you'll at least know what u got.

It's to long. The yoke made contact just as the bumps started to touch. I put the stock shaft back in. I am thinking 3/4 to 1 inch should be about right.

Check around for a recommended shop to do your new shaft shortening.
They should premark and then keep eyes aligned on the reweld. Sounds like removal of 1/2" could be enough. What about the manufacturer of your new shaft, could they do the shortening??

I had this problem when i swapped out my rear d35 with a 8.25. Just find a shop and have it shortened, it sucks but it would suck more if it were to bottom out. Then you can have fun and not worry in the back of your mind if something bad is going to happen.

Yea I know. I stuffed it as gently as possible and stopped as soon as it touched the seal. Don't think i caused any damage. I got this drive shaft from the j/y so I am not out much. Could get it shortened or go back and get the one I had in my hand that probably would have worked. And no axle is not shimmed.
