Default Rear Shock axel bracket

Took my rig in to Les Schwab for a brake and suspension check. (yes a city guy). When the went to unbolt the rear shock, they shore off the bolt. They won't claim responsibility. Any ideas how to fix this cheaply? Options would be find and weld a new bracket, bore out the pin and use a #8 bolt. Other ideas?

Thanks!

Trail fix, weld a washer to it, the correct fix is to add a new bracket there is no way to remove just the bolt that I know of...

If it had to be done, you could just move both mts up too... A bit of work I know but your gonna be replacing one anyway...

take a cut off wheel, cut the stud off, drill a new hole and just run a bolt through it.

Yep, simple fix.

Bigger question is, you took it to a shop for a suspension check? What does that consist of, taking it all apart to tell you it's not worth putting back together? If it ain't broke, they'll break it!

I hope they didn't charge you for creating more problems for you!

Why exactly were they removing a component from your vehicle? Were you having it replaced? Did you authorize it?

It is the bolt that holds on the rear shock. They didn't use any penetrating fluid to get it loose. Shore right off. I would have done the project myself had I not been so busy.

If a shop broke it, they have to fix it. What's the problem?

If it were me,... I'd be telling them they Broke it they fix it. Or they can talk to my lawyer.

If You took it in there and the shock was perfectly fine bolt was still attached and all and they broke it trying to take it off then there responsible.

I hate it when some shop breaks something on your car and then turns aroind and try's to say it was already like that because they don't have the ***** to man up to there mistake. Business's like that should be shut down.

Now I know its a pretty simple fix. Cause I've broke one before and used the cut off stud/ drill out and attach new grade 8 3/8's bolt. Method. But its the principle that matters. You can't let shops get away with crap like that.
