Rear fender cutting. What happens when you cut past the pinch seam?
So, I bought my XJ with the rear already cut past the pinch seam. I've heard that its bad to cut past the pinch seam but I've never heard why that was. unfortunately I don't have an up close picture of my rear wheel wells. So why is it bad to cut past/into the body seam thingy??
Heres the best picture I have of my rear wheel well.

It undermines the integrity of the uni body. The phrase "it will fold like a taco" comes to mind.
It will also allow water & everything else to get inside the cab & allow rust to start forming.
I too inherited butchered rear fenders from the PO. The gap is about 2 inches.

Heres some photos of both sides. I am not to worried about rust, nothing seems to rust here in Phoenix. Ive wheeled the **** out of my XJ and haven't run into any structural integrity issues. Fully flexed out all my doors still open and close just fine?
