Default Rear disc conversion?

Is it just the ZJ rear discs that will work on an XJ or will the WJ discs work too? If I do the swap I plan on buying the whole axle so I have all the stuff I need.

Being that you have the 8.25 go for the liberty rear discs as it has a 8.25.

From what I have read the ZJ Dana 35 discs are a direct bolt in, you just have to ream out the backing plates a little so they will slide over the axle housing.

Yep. And after you've gotten the axle housing cleaned of any rust and what not it doesn't take very much with a dremel to get the backing plates to fit. Everything else is a bolt on. You'll have to work with the brake lines to make them fit and to anchor them down. I anchored mine to the stabilizer bracket. You'll also need the ZJ lug studs.

I'm guessing you've seen this?

LIberty is a direct bolt on due to the same axles.

I can get rear axle for $100-125 but I see a lot more WJs being parted out here than I do ZJs or Libertys that's what I was wondering if the WJ brakes will work?

Another question, does it have to be from a ZJ Dana 35 or will the Dana 44a backing plates work as well?

WJ does not, Liberty and ZJ does.

So if I find a V8 ZJ with the Dana 44a the brakes will swap to my 8.25?

According to BigDavid's Rear Disc Brake Conversion intro. The D35 backing plates will work with the C8.25 and D44 , check it out in the selling forum. I believe my backing plates were listed for both on ebay ? Heck, just message him, so you'll be 100% positive ! HTHY

94 to 98 ZJ. Get the prop valve guts from the same vehicle.

I know you see a lot more WJs in the junkyard, but how many do you need? One ZJ should fill the bill, eh?

Liberty isn't necessary. ZJ works fine. You can damn near SAND the hole out bigger.

My plan is to find a 5.2 ZJ and use the brakes for a disc conversion on my Jeep and swap the engine in my Dakota.
