Question rear axle locking, cheap

whats the cheapest way to lock my rear axle? i dont have specific axle info yet since i have not bought my jeep yet but one of the first things im going to do is put a locker in the rear, i dont care if its locked all the time, i do need to be able to drive it on the road, as for the front i was thinking of just putting a limited slip in bc i dont have the money to buy an air locker or and E locker and i know driving in 4 is a b**** with the front locked all the time, but the front is less important i just want to lock the rear as soon as i buy it,

You should not feel the locker in the front unless you are in 4wd. That is...unless its welded.

Which would be the cheapest way to lock the rear. But a lunchbox locker would be better IMO, esp for on road driving.

welding is way cheaper. but heres the thing.

locking the front will be a whole lot better. recently i saw a cherokee on 32s locked up front climb a rock first try. then i saw a cherokee on 35s locked in the rear try and it literally took him barrelling at the rock to get up it. save the coin, lock the front.

moral of the story, locked front will do more than rear locked.

Alright, so after thinking about it I'm just gonna weld the rear till I have the money to re-gear it then I'll get a lunch box locker or maybe an e locker if I have the money, as for the front I'll just save up and get an e locker, thanks for the help guys, does any one know how to weld the rear? Or know Where there is a write up?

You're gonna eat through your tires on the road welding your spider gears.

A lunchbox locker allows the outside tire to travel faster when navigating a corner (provided you're not on the throttle) where the welded method will not. This will cause your tires to "scrub" as they fight to corner. Your buddys probably not being easy enough on the gas while cornering and thats where the tire noise is coming from. Lunchbox lockers are what they are, they are most of the time loud and can be a little tricky at the mall but when you need them they are always there.

I have a powertrax no slip lunchbox locker in my rear and with a couple hundred miles on it can't tell it's there in town. Performs flawless offroad aswell, except I broke a part in it when I accidentally RD'd when on the throttle but that's my fault

I probably could have welded as I don't DD the Jeep much but welded rears handle like hell and are hard on tire$$$.
