Default reaer brake questions

Alright, I'm getting ready to do my first axle swap and have a couple questions.

I have a '99 XJ with the 8.25 29 spline. I'm swapping in a '96 8.25 27 spline that is locked and regeared already. However, I need to replace the brakes on the 96 axle. So here are my questions:
1. Does it matter whether I use the 9" drum/shoe set up or the 10" drum/shoe setup?
2. Can I use the same brake lines (hard/soft/emergency) that were used for the '99 axle on the '96 8.25?

Thanks!
