you will not need to re gear I just changed my speedo gear on the tail end of the tranny on the tranfer case from a 34 tooth to a 31 tooth. I would not regear unless you are gonna run a 33 or 35

sure, nobody "needs" to regear. but it helps with gas mileage, stress on the drivetrain, acceleration, offroad power, cruising rpms, and passing power.
and to the O.P., you would be ok riding around for a month without regearing.

you will be fine until you can re-gear. and do re-gear. Just keep in mind your goals and what you have vs what you want. you only want to do it once....

I've got an auto..it was either re gear to 4:10 or get an sye and cv kit and I decided on the sye this s*** is not cheap! But thank you for the advice I didn't want to screw something up that can be avoided..

CJ, I run 32's on mine and it was fine with the 3.55 gears until I hit the hills or towed, then it bogged down the engine something terrible. I recently installed the 4.10 gears and it has made a night/day difference. 32's running on 4.10's put you a little lower than stock. I spent 2 weeks doing the gear change, but it was worth it. If you know someone who can do it then let them or if you can stand to pay someone else then do it. It's a job and a half. I just couldn't stand the thought of not learning something new about my Jeep.

Gears are something you can really **** up if you dont know what you are doing, do them wrong and you will be down for a full axle rebuild and have to buy new gears. Just really tight clearances that you can easily get wrong. I work with a differential guy so I have that perk, he charges 300 not including parts to install gears, but thats here in the tacoma wa area.
