Default Rainproof Hood Vents ???

Anyone know if there is such an animal as hood vents that won't allow rain to come in on top of the engine ??? For a DD, not a trailer queen.

Not that I'm aware of. Best I've seen is to put drip trays under them that direct the rain away from things that you don't want to get wet, which also reduces the effectiveness of them.

I considered putting vents through the cowl area, as that would also work as a drip tray (it's already meant to function as one). One would just have to open up the top of the cowl on the passenger side; it's already open on the driver's for wiper access.

Curious if anyone else has better ideas.

When you use the '98 GC 5.9 louvers you also use the drip trays. But they have to be trimmed down a bit. Start reading from the top of that page down.

Just a shot of my Jeep with them on.

Isn’t Napier (spelling) hood vents rain resistant in their design? Probably not water proof.

The Napier hood vents have a little lip on the bottom of the vent, so water can't just flow in. Its not 100% waterproof, but it will keep a good amount of water out if you don't get tons of rain.
For a DD, I am not sure if it is worth it. I am avoiding them on my XJ because it is still a daily driver, and we get alot of heavy rain in S. Florida

Preventive maintenance,,, and they look awesome !!! I had thought about making drip trays. No issues yet. Last time I went to the beach in Ocean City Md. If you go up on a Friday, you catch stop and go traffic for about 2hrs / the last 10-20 miles ! My 96 GC even ran hot when it was new ! Just feel better with an edge. I like the idea of accessing the cowl,,, Seems to me, that the vents near the front would work better ? You'd think that they would help pull more air thru the radiators and help cool that way too ? Those look good in the picture ! That, together with vents to the cowl would work good. If warm air from the engine wouldn't enter the cabin ?
