quick solution to axle wrap.
I'm in need of a quick definitive answer on axle wrap. I have wheel hop very bad. I'm trying to find a quick solution by next weekend.
Anyone have luck with simple slapper,snubber,assisted leaf setups? Obviously the best would be a well setup 4link. But I'm keeping the leaf setup and am only concerned with axle wrap under launch. Suspension travel, and ground clearance are not an issue. Just looking for a quick solution to get wheel hop under control, and done in under a week. |
Doesn't help if we don't know what your rear axle/leaf/etc.. Setup is first

First off, nothing is broken. I didn't say I have a busted jeep, I just said I'm beginning to mod the rear. But anyway, it has brand new kyb monomax on all four. |

I remember reading one of your threads, is this for the street Jeep? How much more power do you have running through? I would imagine stock leafs would start to wrap up pretty quick with a good set of tires, there's not much substance to xj leafs. If budget isn't an issue, what about Caltracs or ladder/traction bars? If it is, what about adding a couple extra stock leafs to your leaf pack, or looking into stock replacement leafs.

Yes it's my street jeep, money isn't that big of an issue, it more about time. I have a custom leaf pack being made for it, but it won't be done in time for my next event, so I just decided that I might have time for another type of quick fix, that would still supplement my new leaf pack when it's ready, or be cheap and easy enough to not matter. |
I really like the caltrac setup, but will they work on spring over axle setup?
To answer everything, it already has stock replacement low mileage oem springs. Has plenty of traction with a locker, and radials. And is easily making twice the factory power output, honestly closer to three times. This is really a problem that I should have addressed a while ago, but I didn't think my spring setup would take so long. |
You have a rare application. Personally I would install a stiff leaf from another vehicle to help with it. Replace the short leaf on the bottom.

Well here's the even bigger issue, I need to lower the jeep, not raise it. My new leaf setup is supposed to bring the rear down a couple inches.
A bolt on solution like the caltracs would be perfect, but I'm gonna have to call em and see what their time frame and customer service is like. |
Chevy half ton springs ride almost flat and consist on only 3 leafs? Have to change the mount location though. Good luck. You have a project.

The ruffstuff kit was what I was originally looking at, I'm just concerned with time constraint mixed with setting them.up correctly.
If I'm picturing it correctly in my head, if they aren't mounted right won't it cause binding and possibly make my issue even worse? |
Well we weren't kidding about price. Caltech does have a solution, but it's easily quit a bit more than I was shooting for, and it's a borderline on it being here in time.
