Default question on lift

If I bought 4.5 in coil springs for the front how big of a block would I need for the rear?

Haha don't block the rear! Search "S10 leaf spring swap" it will give you the 4.5" lift your looking for safely! Blocks are sketchy at best

Im doing the dakota pack in mine, because mine is so saggy I am using XJ main and the whole dakota pack. Got the dakota leafs from the jy for 40 and they even cut the eyes off for me. Just swing by the jy tell them what you want. I have seen alot of people do XJ main S10 2nd 3rd 4th and overload. You will need new u bolts, center pin, and leaf clips also. Really comes down to how high you want it to be and how saggy your main leaf is.

If you are piecing a lift together like this what accessories would you have to buy to make it all work smoothly? Example: drop pitman arm, sway bar connects, brake line brackets, etc...
I'm trying to do the same thing with mine and just was curious what else would need to be bought "new" other than coils and shocks

It depends on the height.

A complete kit would include:
Shocks
Brake lines
Track Bar
Leaf Springs
Shackles
Coil Springs
Upper Control Arms
Lower Control Arms
Sway Bar Quick Disconnets
Extended BumpStops

Not included but still needed (possibly, depending on height):
Slip Yoke Eliminator
Driveshaft to match SYE

Don't forget that your taller tires will rub on your control arms. So plan on new wheels with less backspacing or a set of quality Wheel Spacers.

I already have a set of deep dish rims off an older ford ranger, tires are 31" and I have a 2" lift currently that is a coil spacer and add a leaf.. I'm looking to do the Dakota pack in the rear and buy new coils for up front.. shooting for around 5" of lift.. would I be able to get away with a transfer case drop kit?

Most but not all 4.5+ lifts need a SYE kit. I'm sitting on 5"s with just a 1" tcase drop, but I guess I just got lucky!

the transfer case drop kits, what are they exactly? are they just blocks between the crossmember / frame rail that drop the crossmember an inch or whatever? i've seen them for sale but seems like it might be something pretty easy to make myself
