Putting on bigger tires, couple questions
I called my tire guy today about tires since I havent put on new ones in about 4 years and have about 50K on them. I dont think theyll pass inspection this month, and they are SUPER dangerous in ANY rain. So, I called up to see how much my 225's were currently since they were $84 mounted and balanced last time. He said that tire was antiquated and about $30 bucks more each than the 235's. Ok, fine, I dont mind larger tires. HOWEVER, what Im worried about is the speed gear. How much of a difference will 235's make over 225's? Do I need a new speed gear?

Thanks. Ragged, I used to run around your area a lot in the mid/late 90's. I lived in S. Berwick, worked in Kittery, striper fished & surfed all over that place.

No problem, I'm about 25 minutes away in North Hampton. I know that area well. I'm running 31s now, and am only about 6mph off at 65 mph, so its really nothing to worry about.

Wow, that much? I was thinking like 2 or 3mph. Maybe I should change it then because Im regularly driving 75+ since thats our speed limit up here.

This is 100% not true. Obviously if you change tire size it will affect speedo. The difference is just very minimal.
Stock Tire 225/75-15:
Sidewall - 6.6"
Diameter - 28.3
New Tire 235/75-15
Sidewall - 6.9"
Diameter - 28.9
When your speed is 60mph your actual speed will be 61.3
