PUTCO harness relays
.......and maybe for other harness brands? Found these while searching for a mounting bracket for mine. I'll be the guinea pig and give them a try.

Overpriced, yes. The relays are junk and the fusible links should be replaced, but the Putco wiring isn't junk. I don't believe Earl is trying to sell anyone a Putco harness.
Don't bother with those Earl. I can show you how to very easily replace the Putco relay sockets with Bosch-style relay sockets, and it will cost you about $4 for sockets & relays.
You're better off buying something like this. The Putco wiring will snap right into the included sockets:

Definitely not pushing PUTCO. Not when less expensive and supposedly better built ones are available.
Honestly except for one relay early on that started working intermittently I've not had any problems with the harness after at least 5yrs. Maybe they've changed since I bought mine.
So the existing PUTCO relay connectors won't plug into the relays in that amazon set up?

The Bosch/Amazon relays won't fit into the Putco sockets. You pull the wiring pigtails out of the Bosch (Amazon) relay sockets. Then, you just pull the individual wire connections out of the Putco relay sockets, and plug them into the appropriate holes in the Bosch relay sockets and bingo!, you've converted your Putco harness to Bosch relays, which you can buy virtually anywhere.
I should have done a write-up on this but I can put a diagram together for you.
BTW, I've had my Putco harness for 6 years with no problems running 100/55W H4s. I only recently upgraded the relays, but there was no issue with the originals.

Get a BW4136 at your local parts store.
See post 6 in the link below.
I believe a bunch of relay failures occur for 3 reasons.
One, is not mounting them solid and allowing them to bounce around.
Two, is not having a solid ground to them causing them to get hot and fail.
Three, is not mounting them so moisture can't get in.

Your definitely right about failure reasons. I've had no problems with the relays except for the one early on. I was looking for a way to mount the BW4136 replacement I'm using or any I may need in the future. Came across these but not sure if they'd fit. I did order the Bosch style from Amazon as they are a good deal.

But, there are even better choices on the market now as far as price.

For sure. High cost usually comes with most new products when they first hit the market. But living with the chance of the headlights going dead at 70mph or of course at any time wasn't an option. lol
