Powertrax is out :)
Got the No-Slip taken out of my XJ today. Had to burn out one of the C-clips to remove it. Had the mechanic drive it on, and off road before we removed it. He didn't much like the torque steer on the road, or the way it would spin one tire in the dirt. He has a Detriot Locker in his Jeep, said it didn't act that bad. I told everyone here I would tell them the out come of taking it out. Well other than some heat marks from reomoving the C-clip it is all in one piece. There are no broken parts, and it still passed the test in powertrax book, before we took it out. I did use the pinion shaft in the Auburn LSD. I drove it off road afterwards. It is nice to be able to go up the steep hill coming out of our camp site without having to put it in 4wd, like I used to with the open carrier. It is nice not to torque steer on the road also.

im gonna have to agree,
im still sticking to the no-slip not being setup right.
it may be tough to hear, but ive always been very impressed by the way the no-slip works on and off road. and my personal experience with them is that they are flawless when properly installed.
if nothing is broken, then the problem is the install. the lunchbox lockers are so simple in the way they work.
but, either way...enjoy the LSD. but it will in no way compare to the offroad performance of a properly setup lunchbox locker.

I have no idea at all why it didn't work. The GO-NO GO gauge still fit on the go side. Both axles were true, and the diff. housing was straight. We measured everything, because tech tried to blame it on that. It should have worked. I am still really disapointed with their customer service. They didn't even try to help. That is a real deal killer. The mechanic said he deals with the after market a lot, and said some of them are like that. When I change the break-in oil out in 500 miles, I'll replace the pinion pin with the real one from the original open rear. It will be cheap. I live near Allentown, PA.

I'm not a real fan of lunch box lockers but that torque steer you talk abot sounds like you didn't have your tire pressure set the same,With a locked diff if one tire is different than the other it will cause the vehicle to pull. Either way sounds like your happy so go with that.

I guess that could be a problem, but I check my tires & fluid levels every week. If I did a lot of crawling I think I would not want a LSD. I am happy though.

Yea we tried for two hours to get that C-clip out it wasn't moving. It went in nice, with just a small screwdriver. It was not coming out though. I have the whole thing with the carrier.

You are right, I didn't file it. That is most likely why it didn't want to come out. Cutting it in half allowed it to come out, without hurting anything.

OK, I was looking at the powertrax today, with the original spider gears and carrier. The instructions say to take the thrust washers out with the original gears, but don't say anything about putting them back in. I will have to see if it will go together with the thrust washers. Should they have been reinstalled?

Yea I tried it in the carrier, and it doesn't fit with the thrust washers. I guess I have no idea why it doesn't work. Even dry fit on the bench it looks OK. The GO-NO/GO Gauge fits just as it should.
