Power steering upgrade
So here is another one.
I am pretty sure my power steering pump is about to die since it leaks fluid and makes some sort of weird noises as if you were killing an animal, plus it gets really hard to turn the steering wheel while dead stopped.
I am running 35s and the current steering setup is stock. So what would be a good upgrade to go with my 35s and if there are any other stuff to make it work better, like cooler and stuff. I am planing on upgrading my steering, tie rods etc, and all of that in a couple of months.

Durango box and ZJ power steering pump will be the cheapest and easiest. Dont worry about Hydro unless you really plan on working the steering hard. i would upgrade to at least the ZJ steering linkage or going to a 1-ton or equivalent linkage.

I am in the process of putting 35s on mine now, and I am going to use the ZJ tie rod setup, steering box brace, possibly a drop pitman arm, with the stock pump and box. I am going to see how that does first, before I start thinking about hydro assist, I had no problems turning with 31s and a front locker.

I did the west Texas off road/redneck ram mods to my pump when I went to 35s. Look at faq #7 to download the tech article.

If that doesn't work Google redneck ram power steering pump mods. Should give you the WTOR FAQ in the results.

Please keep a list of part numbers and take some pics. My steering wheel has about 5"-6" of play, horrible!! I haven't diagnosed it to be able to tell what parts are needed but this durango box upgrade has to be a good thing, right?
