Default Powder Coat Removal...

What's happening my fellow Jeeples. So living in New Jersey during winter takes a toll on our Jeeps. (everyone knows that) So after a few harsh winter dealing with snow and salt my front and rear OrFab bumpers have taken a beating. I am looking and repainting them but I need to get the Powder Coating off of them first. I tried sand blasting it works but not so effective... Does anyone know of a chemical to spray on it to help break it down. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Ricky

Aluminum oxide is a good chemical to get that powder coat off. Often it is found on a paper substrate. Powder coat is quite resistant to most chemicals....

Most powder coat can be "baked" back off at 400* if you can find somebody with a big enough oven, heat it up then sand blast it. Thats how we do it at work. (we have a BIG powder booth, oven and blast booth.

Aircraft paint stripper. It comes in a spray can, you can get it at most paint supply stores.

This^...you can get it in gallon cans as well. Most auto parts stores should have it. I've even bought it at the depot/lowes. It is made to remove paint and coatings.
