Default posilok or perm-lok

I have a 1990
Non DD
4x4 barely ever engages.

Posi I know u pull the cable and it engages the front axle

So perm lok its always engaged I just have to put it in 4hi/lo correct?

Perm is much cheaper what are the draw backs any changes to driving feel?

Thanka

Ya only have to pull the lever to engage transfer case. The only draw back i know of is that the front tires wear faster. anything i didn't think of anyone?

I run posi-lock right now, I like it. It was cheap, easy to install and i haven't had any problems with it. If ya don't use your rig on the road much I'd say just flip your Vac-Disconnect to lock the axel full time instead of buying something to do that. I ran that mod for a couple weeks before my posi came in. Biggest thing I noticed was front driveline Vibes since the wheels turn the drive shaft when its in 2wd but if you got your drive shaft ballanced I'd assume everything would work fine.

The thing is my location.
Im a Marine on LCpl pay. With a payment alotment.
So i get 400 a check.
50 dollar perm-lok vs 200 dollar posi.

Obviously i would just go for the perm.
BUT
Im 2 hrs from Anza
5 from pismo
3.5 from glamis
and like 1 hour from my parents which is where theres a few crap trails that i could probably do it all in 2wd.

and i have a g35 so i cant trailer
