popping noise??

Ive got a popping noise that happens whenever i turn my steering wheel. Ive checked all of my tie rod ends and track bar connections. Everything is good and tight. Also its not the u joints they are new. I had someone turn my steering wheel while i was looking under the front end. I found that the popping noise is coming from around the top of the coil spring on the driver side. I looked at it and there were no noticeable cracks, deformities, or problems I could see. Has anyone had this issue or known of this problem or have any ideas that could fix this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I know you said you checked but.... The track bar bracket where it attaches to the frame? Close to where you are hearing it from, and noises are VERY hard to pinpoint under the front end.

That sound is definitely coming from your track bar bracket. Crank those bolts down real tight and it should go away. Mine kept doing this over and over. Every time I would go wheeling it would start popping again and I would have to tighten the bolts to make it go away. I finally got tired of it and just welded the track bar bracket to the frame. It could also possibly be your steering box. I highly reccomend the JKS steering box brace setup.

ill take a look at the track bar attachment bracket and see if i cant find anything. Ya its quite the pita to find the cause of the noise. Ive been trying to find it for a little while. Ill try to tighten the bolts holding it on see if that helps since its the stock bracket. It doesnt hinder the driveability at all is just extremely annoying.

has there been any down falls to having the bracket welded to the frame instead of being bolted? thanks for the insight. Ill try it tomorrow. It does seem to have gotten a little louder since i went offroading two weeks ago.

Would getting a new track bar bracket and getting rid of the stock bracket be worth my time?

Maybe. Just crank it down first and see what happens. More than likely that will fix it.

thanks for the reply. I will take the impact to it to make sure it is nice and tight and see if that helps.

I would suggest a breaker bar.

Will do. I typically hit it with an impact then follow up with a breaker bar on stuff that need to be super tight.
