Default OTK coil perch modification

I have a JCR OTK kit sitting in my garage just waiting to go on. Now that my tie rod ends are so bad I can't drive the thing without random fits of death wobble, even going straight on a smooth road...I'd like to get it installed.

I'd like to see some installs and hear some thoughts from guys who have installed the JCR kit.

Pics, advise, anything. All help is appreciated.

You have to drill and insert the tapers on top of the knuckle right? I have a buddy running that system and he loves it, it look beefy as hell.

Thats not my concern. The lower coil mount on the drivers side needs to be trimmed and REINFORECED.

I wanna see what folks have done so I don't fluff it up...

Ive seen people install this kit and not trim anything and it worked out fine.

and the small amount of trimming you may need to do probably wont be enough to justify reinforcing it. I would just install the kit and trim later if you need to. It will only graze the perch at full steering lock anyway.

edit: just went on jcrs site and noticed all their warnings. maybe ask them what they do? im sure they will be more than happy to help you out.

Thats a beautiful thing to hear. Thank you very much, Sam.

I just read the info on their website, and took it literally. It says "must" in bold.

I would contact jcr and ask what they do when they install it on customers rigs.

Not every setup ive seen was jcr, but they were all pretty much clones of it mounted otk. Where they had their steering stops set would also have something to do with it.

When I did the WJ steering swap WAY back in the day I had an issue with this.

I just hacked the front of the perches off and welded a plate from the new front edge to the axle tube... but at the time I had also raised my tracbar mount out of the way so I hacked it off too.

Their install guide does say to adjust the steering stops, but I'd like to keep as much turning radius as possible.

Something I found funny, their OTK install pdf is actually for UTK. Their knuckle reaming is backwards. Lol

I have the disco housing, so the trac bar is staying where its at for a bit. Unless the new steering makes contact, I'm thinking it'll be ok for a bit. Little bump steer is better than this constant random dw fits.

only dana 30 steering i have actually installed was wj knuckles and brakes done otk on an xj dana 30. and I didnt have to do any trimming.

I may not be correct, but I do recall people running straight tie rods otk on dana 30's without much trimming if any to the coil buckets. Just gotta chop off the swaybar mounts.

I know these pics have nearly no real depth perception, but this is what I'm working with.

It also looks like if I ditch the crappy trac bar drop bracket my trac bar will be fairly close to parallel with my drag link. Maybe.
