Opinions on Detroit locker (not Trutrac)
I have a Detroit locker that is not a trutrac had no clutches in it. It's for a ford 8.8 I just put in my cherokee. This locker new is like $650. So it's a good one. If the jeep is going to be diven on the street some how will the manners of this thing be? I'm moving to Seattle WA and an on using this rig offroad as much as I can. It is not going to be driven daily. Who here had one and how Do you like it? I have a trutrac in the front. Thanks

I run an 8.8 with Detroit on the street with auto trans (I've been told its a bit more harsh with a 5 speed). It's great the only time it's noticeable is when you let of the gas. The backlash is apparent. It's a great locker but I only picked it up for $280. If I was buying a brand new auto locker I'd look at Yukon grizzly first. But if you've already got the Detroit run it and enjoy!

I've got a Detroit in the rear of my Silverado, its got decent street manners. I daily drove it for a while like that, I like the Detroit lockers. I'd put Detroits in my Jeep if I could afford 2 of them, I'm only going with lunchbox lockers because of the cost.
And fwiw, both my boss, and one of my buddies daily drive their Jeeps (a TJ and a YJ) with Detroit lockers front and rear. They drive great on the road.
But you'll like the Detroit, I prefer the Detroit over the Tru Trac even for a dd (and I've had both in my truck, currently have a Detroit in the rear and a spool in the front of it).

I liked mine but if you break a shaft the springs inside break and that ran 250 for the one in my D60. Second time it happened I got rid of it. By the way the truetrac doesn't have clutches either, it's a gear driven LSD.
