Default Oil pan gasket

Have a 98 cherokee 4.0L engine with a 4.5 inch lift. I need to change my oil pan gasket. Any advice? I have read that you need to remove some of the front suspension. What do you guys think?

On mine ('91, lifted, and a '92, stock) I just jacked up the front and let the axle droop. I had plenty of room to get the pan off. Some folks talk about having to disconnect some stuff but I never have.

I literally just did my oil pan gasket last weekend. I drive a 98 sport with 4.5" Lift and 33's. I didnt have to jack my front end up or anything. Just remove the starter and you can slide if right out

Had to replace the RMS a while back. I'm on 3' lift w/short arms. I had to drop my axle a tad to clear. Just be careful though. Due to the geometry of a short arm set up the more droop...the further back the axle moves. So at full droop for me the oil sump wouldn't clear. Jacked up the axle and it clear no problem.
Also best tricked I've learned is to use dental floss to tie the new gasket to the pan through the bolt holes. I would do maybe 5 or 6 holes all the way around. It stops to gasket from sliding off. Once you get a few bolts started just remove the floss with a knife....just don't let any tiny bits fall into the pan!

I tried the dental floss....I used small zip ties in the corners and worked way better.
