Default oil filter adapt. delete reviews

I'm looking for reviews of those who have done the ofa delete . I'm alittle iffy on doing it but I've had bad experience with the adapter. I've replaced the O-rings twice and the first set was from o-rielys help section. Well I figured that was the problem so I ordered a set from crown and now its still leaking. I'm almost positive its coming from the adapter. I don't know if the adaptor has a crack in but I'm really wanting to stop the leak cause it always ends up burning on the exhaust and stinks. I've also replaced the rms and valve cover gasket and no signs of wet oil except around the ofa and a small trail to the inspection cover where the oil ends up dripping out. Again I'm not big on deleting it but i'm really tired of trying to fix it. I've read mixed reviews on deleting it so any help or opinions are appreciated.

I removed mine around 7-8 months ago, and it's worked out just fine. No leaks at all.

Be sure you don't do what I did at first though - there is an o-ring between the OFA and the engine and it stuck to the engine when I removed the OFA. I didn't see it, and put the new filter on right over the old o-ring. Driving down the road a few days later it started leaking again, in a big bad way. So make sure you get that o-ring out!

What filter did you use ? Any clearance issues being that close to the motor mount?

I haven't had any clearance issues and no scuffs or dings indicating anything is hitting it when driving crazy. Mine isn't at a point yet that I've off roaded though, so not sure if that would change that.

As to filter, here is a partial compatible filter type list I came up with. I've used the Mobil, Purolator and Napa so far with no changes in oil pressure over what it used to be with the OFA and other filter size:

I replaced mine once 4 yrs ago with a set from Mopar has never leaked again. Myself I would not want to remove because of clearance issues off road well documented.

It's a matter of time til there's an issue with a punctured/ruptured filter. Fred is on the right track here.

Way better things to focus your attention and resources on than that.

You could spend $30-45k and buy a new Jeep Wrangler 8>) or do like the rest of us and just keep fixing the little things.

Mine hasn't leaked after replacing the o rings with mopar parts. Autometer makes a low oil pressure warning light. Might be a good idea if you do the delete.

Great suggestion Greg.

But you left out a few things...

Carry 6 quarts of oil, an oil filter, and wrench!!!

You should stop fooling around, just get the Mostly Old Parts And Rust o-rings and fix it for good.

Yup. Coat the new o-rings in fresh motor oil.

Do you know how to install o-rings without twisting them?

Like Turbo said. Go to a Chrysler dealership. Replaced my o rings two years ago. Still no leaks.
