If I do to the conversion, would I lose my heater?

If you are talking about the A/C to OBA no you will not loose your heat.

One thing to keep in mind. Normally, when you run the defrosters in a car, the AC kicks in and air passes over the cold coils to dehumidify the air. You'll lose that. Not to say your defrosters wont work, they may just take longer.
