I put put a sye in a np231 for a 91 cherokee about a month ago, and today i was driving down the road and the gears in the transfercase slipped out, and all it would do is grind gears. and it wouldnt go back into 2H.. so when i click to reverse it goes just fine.. then it goes into 2H fine. then if messed up and only 4Low would work. its all sorts of messed up any ideas?

I doubt this is the answer, but go under the Jeep and check the linkage... you might get lucky, but I doubt it...

did you have a tcase drop before? if you did then your linkage might be out of adjustment

but the rod never moves to the 4x4,

jam nut is tight, the shift rods never move, it just jumps out of gear in the t case
