Default Novak T-case linkage, anyone?

Greetings all,

I was wondering if anyone here has done the Novak SK2X transfer case linkage conversion?

Seems like a nice replacement for the goofy design of the factory linkage. Mine is shot and rattles like heck! I haven't been able to find anyone that has done this to their XJ, except here...

I don't like the hack job that guy did to his console, and reading the instructions it seems he could have bent the shift rod further to the right to keep it in the original place.

If anyone has done this I'd love to see some pictures, if not, I guess i'll be the first!!!

I have this setup installed currently. It works very well. But it was a royal PITA to get setup properly. Took me an hour and half to remove the stock stuff and install the assembly. Then it took 5 hours to get it set right. Once its all set you then have too tack weld the shift rod to the clamp. Otherwise it will just spin on you. I also cannotseem to get the linkage rod with the heim joints tight enough to stop rattling. Very annoying. They were not very helpful on the phone. Not sure I would recommend it. [/B][/B]

Thanks for the reply! Sounds like way more work than I expected. I wonder how it would be with the shifter cable kit, but I really like the aluminum **** they offer. Do you have any pictures of this?

No pictures handy. It looks stock with a nice polished aluminum **** on it. I actually have a spare black **** as they sent the wrong one. I heard that that the cable kit was much easier to deal with..

i installed the novak cable shifter on my 98 xj , it was pain to do. i could not get it adjusted to hit all positions in 242 case w/o cutting a small notch @ the rear of the console before it would engage 4 lo. had i know i would have done the bsfab type.

This is what im doing to mine now. It makes it as simple as possible.

Thank you guys. I do not want to cut any of the console. I'd love the shifter **** though...I really want to avoid any custom fabrication as I just don't have the supplies or aptitude for it...but if you guys who are currently doing this, i'd love it if i could see how yours turns out. I also have the NP242
