Not impressed after upgrades????
Ok fellow jeepers,
Here it is short and sweet; after super 40 exhaust, accel tuneup kit, custom mandrel bent downpipe, apn header, ford injectors, and few other mods... im somewhat dissapointed with signifigance, horsepower is extremly minimal and hardly even noticeable. Maybe I am used to v8 upgrades being very noticeable or maybe im just expecting to much but not sure any of it was worth the upgrade money?? Would an open air intake wake it up or ported tb? Maybe gears? Second guessing ordering those now after my current performance gains. My plan was to see how everything turned out and then maybe redo and stroke it, but not sure im just trying to wake up a dog, or just missing a key ingredient? ?? Any suggestions? And dont say buy a muscle car I already got one lol
Thanks guys

These straight six engines are torquey not really too fast, that's not what they're made for. Do a v8 conversion if thats what you're looking for something fast

I was debating on those same gears after reviewing the gear chart. Im running 32's. Just wasnt sure how much it would improve as im running stock gears. But dont wanna kill myself on freeway either by going to slow through az moutain highways.

Very nice improvement. However it never felt sluggish whatsoever bc of the 4.6L.

Thumper camshaft, head work, and increase airflow into your engine (63mm TB). Want to know the cheap-***** way to make it feel like it has more get-up and go? Use poly motor and trans mounts.

thanks for the replys guys, I read up on jeepspeed and seems like some pretty technical stuff you can get into regarding head, cam, lifter work, just not sure how much all that would run$$$, or just doing some head work/porting and cam?

Gears would be the next upgrade if it were me. Xj's are under geared from the factory. With a 32" I would want 4.56's. That would give you good power all around, good highway power etc.
