Noob questions on a bought jeep.
I just picked up RkyMtnH's old cherokee and this is my first lifted vehicle. I have a few questions on it.
1. When I turn I hear popping noises, is this the lunchboxes in the front and rear ends? It has an aussie rear and I think spartan front.
2. When I put it in gear, ( loss of words here/ description ) it kinda "slams" into gear but it shifts smooth.
3. The wheels wonder around on the road, is this because the sway bar isnt hooked up? Its there, but not bolted to the axel. Just the frame. What grade bolts do/should I use? Could I use a QD swing arm kit? The swing arm, just helps stiffen it on the street right? Then remove it when going off-road?
It looks like the right long arm is bent upwards ( to the cab floor ) a bit. should that be alright?

lockers will make some noise. could be ball joints too. jack the front end up and wiggle the wheel with your hands at 3 and 9 to check tie rods and 12 and 6 to check ball joints and then around 2 and 7 to check the wheel bearings. and the bar you are refering to is the sway bar. it will dramaticaly change the way it handles on the road. get that connected and see how it handles. probably wouldnt hurt to get the alignment checked also. you can do the toe in your drive way if you have the patience. look up how to diy alignment. that shoud get you started. as far as the long arm being bent.... how bad? mine hase a light bend in the driver side due to dropping off a 4 foot cliff. but its still good. post some pics and maybe you will get more help.

On the wheel "jiggling" , is that an in and out jiggle or a push the right in and pull the left out and reverse ( do repeatably )
the bend isnt bad at all, Its a hair. I'll get a picture tomorrow.

well if youre running + size tires, when you turn, the rubber ***** on the iniside/ outside edge contact the coil spring making a very neat popopopopop experience. unless the SLAM is a major SLAMAJAM it sounds pretty normal. its just all of theose I6 horses wanting to run
