No Shocks?

Just wondering the feasability of going no shocks... I need it to still be streetable, but im not too concerned about ride quality as its a toy... Going up 3-4 inches and 33's... Probably going to use xj/xj bastard for rear, as both packs are worn maybe itll help.... Your thoughts??

Thanks

Shock Thoughts...

Personally, I would never operate a vehicle of any kind without shocks :) I just know the insurance adjuster isn't going to accept the idea when the accident happens.

Streetable+no shocks=oxymoron

I wouldn't even run a trail only vehicle with no shocks. They are there for a reason.

sycoglitch 09-14-2015 09:51 AM

OP, ignore them. You can run no shocks if you want :sarcasm:. Seriously, dont believe us. Google search jeep xj no shock leaf springs. A guy posted a video once where his rear end would jot stop bouncing like it had hydraulics. No lie

I like bouncing rear ends. Maybe this "no shock" thing is for me.

Most guys here like a little bounce in a rear end :giggity:, but it wont be safe at all. It's funny as hell to see though

I'll take a bouncy rear over a saggy rear any day of the week.

Just found said video. That looks ridiculously uncomfortable. But you're definitely right about the hilarious part.

So OP, I guess this depends on your goals. If you would like an offroader that is still DD'able, you should use shocks. If you would like a clown car, don't use shocks.

Why not just get a cheap set of white rockets to get you by until you can get legit shocks? Shocks main job is to help the oscillation of the springs, thus improving your handling. Personally, I'd wait to lift if I didn't have shocks. Saggy leaf springs won't kill you. No shocks will.

sycoglitch 09-14-2015 10:31 AM

OMG I missed the lift part. The higher spring rate of the bastard pack will be crazy. Do not lift and drive without shocks

Fred/N0AZZ 09-14-2015 10:55 AM

Yes one bad idea on top of another.

lukc22 09-14-2015 10:59 AM

Ok, got it... thanks for the opinions...

93_xjcherokee 09-14-2015 11:06 AM

Just get cheap rustys shocks or similar. Mine were like $48 each shipped

XJlimitedx99 09-14-2015 11:23 AM

My buddy rolled his jeep with no shocks in the back. The bouncing got him while going around a corner.

Nominated.

Seriously. This isn't facebook, LOL
